Rationale

The topic for my Brochure to rebut what John Key has previously said about Wellington being a dying city was the variety of Markets which are available on different days of the week. The rational qualities of each of these markets were that people went because they needed certain items and hadn't been to the market before. Therefore on a weekend trip it would be essential to visit at least one as they are all very unique. The emotive qualities would more likely be going there because it is some sort of ritual within your family, or fun outing you have done for a while, which is more shown in those who are local to wellington reading my brochure, rather than those visiting. As those visiting wouldn't have a tradition of going every week as such. The Night Market, Underground Market, and City Market all have certain atmospheres which are slightly different throughout each one therefore I have tried to portray this in laying my grid and type differently throughout each spread, yet keeping the bold circle there to show that there is still an atmosphere at each location. The circle represents Atmosphere. Throughout my process I learnt a lot of new things, I taught myself a little bit of Indesign which was a positive. I also think there are some areas which I could have developed further if I had managed my time a bit better such as the layout of my type and how each spread was laid out, yet I am still happy with the outcome of my Brochure from where I started in the process of developing.

To the Printer!

Big Picture assured me on Monday morning before class that they would be able to have it done on Monday thank goodness, so After class, where we were told what our rationale had to consist of, I went to the printer with my USB and computer just incase I had to change anything, which I did... (the bleed on inside was needed....) They said it would be ready by that afternoon around 1 ish... It was!! So I went back later, picked up the brochure and it was done. Just like that. All finished.

Getting to Final Print Stage

Had to work quite a bit of shifts this week so now I'm focusing on getting the last few bits all together before printing. Then thinking I was being organised and was going to take it to the printer on Saturday... They aren't open on Saturdays so I will have to wait till Monday!

Brochure for another Critique

More feedback on layout and presentation of brochure, starting to come together and working well... need to update my book a bit more on how I have changed each spread each development stage.

Did new drawings after critique and scanned them in for further development as the previous drawings were very basic and didn't work as well when plain. When I was drawing them originally I had adding colour to them in mind therefore wasn't as successful without it.

New drawings over top of image... Changed all images to Black and White. Only bit of colours on each spread is the circle and buntings. Keeping it simple and clean.

My Map

After exploring my map layout, and listening to Donald in the Lecture about how to simplify the map, I made it form a drawn street view to triangles which form the streets in the gaps, as they are similar geometric shapes to the buntings. I then overlayed the map with small key points such as a starting point (a bus stop as people are most likely going to take public transport to the markets) and key surrounding places. The beehive, City Gallery and Te Papa.

Icons

Seeing as the rest of my booklet includes little sketches, I thought it would be nice for the Icons to be Hand Drawn therefore I drew up a few icons and chose the best one to scan and use in my final Brochure.

Went back to City Market

Between 12-12.15pm I counted a total of 27 people entering the City Market outside the Dock entrance.. Similar amount to the Underground therefore, they may have to have the same amount of icons whether that be 1 or 2 humans... I have now decided after gathering all 3 locations data, the Night Market will have 3 humans.
